Ever wondered how comic artists come up with their unique characters? We had the chance to ask the creator behind these hilarious comics about the inspiration behind her designs. I created my characters after realizing it was much easier to draw comics without having to design new ones each time she shared. I wanted my comics to have a slightly manga-inspired look because I love that style and starting with a black-and-white color scheme just felt simpler. Her signature style has now become a defining feature of her work making her comics instantly recognizable. Keep reading to see her latest creations.

Every artist has their influences, and for this comic creator, inspiration came from some of the best in the game. I had just finished reading Sarah Andersen’s Fangs and Cassandra Calin’s Still Just Kidding, and I loved the styles she shared. I’ll never be as good as either of them, but I aim to reach their levels of artistry and humor! Their amazing work influenced my designs. In the end, her goal was simple to create recognizable characters who could speak for her. I feel like they do she added. With a blend of personal storytelling humor and a distinctive art style, her comics continue to connect with audiences.

For many creators, art has been a lifelong passion and this comic artist is no exception. When asked if she’s always worked in the art field she shared her journey with us. Yes, I’ve been creating art since I was a little kid. I used to draw cartoons a lot in high school and even created a short comic book for a college scholarship application she revealed. Art is one of my favorite things to do and I only wish I had more time for it. Balancing a webcomic with a full-time job isn’t easy, but she’s determined to keep going. It’s tough, but I try my best she added.

Getting to share a laugh with so many people is one of my favorite parts of drawing a webcomic. I’ve made a ton of online friends this way and it helped me get through the pandemic.
