Yogricha shared that her love for drawing began in childhood, inspired by her mother’s casual sketches on the edges of newspapers and diaries. Her love for creativity initially sparked my interest she explained. When COVID hit in 2020 Yogricha decided to make use of her free time by creating random quirky drawings as a form of self-expression. Soon people started reaching out for paid commissions and that’s when I decided to pursue illustration professionally.

Yogricha shared that when she comes up with an idea, it often begins with a quick sketch based on her initial thoughts. If I’m not happy with the rough sketch I move on to creating a mood board. I put these together after conducting thorough research collecting references from real-life images and other drawings.

Yogricha doesn’t come from a design background. Her mother, a homemaker, would make drawings just for herself. By education, Yogricha is a lawyer so when she started, all she knew was her love for drawing. However, this came with its own set of challenges. At first, I didn’t know how to quote a price find new clients, or sell my work. There were also many times when I faced creative blocks. She believes that research consistency and hard work are key to growing as an artist. Joining art communities and interacting with fellow artists and illustrators can also help you gain better exposure.
