Hey there I’m Pryce and I am thrilled to share my quirky, offbeat comics with you. From a young age, I was captivated by cartoons and comics so much so that I quickly started creating my own just for fun. By the time I reached high school, my passion had grown and I began taking my craft more seriously. Now, I create comics out of a deep love for the medium and the pure joy of storytelling. Below, you’ll find a selection of my work that blends classic cartoon influences with a fresh, modern twist. If you enjoy what you see, feel free to follow me on Instagram. I’m currently working on some behind-the-scenes updates but I’m gearing up to release a brand-new wave of comics throughout 2024. Thanks for checking out my work I can’t wait to share more with you.

If you’re a fan of classic cartoons with a fresh spin, then welcome to Whistle Stop. This is my main comic series a comedy-driven world that follows the everyday antics of roommates Sam Squirrel and Fifi Fox along with the quirky residents of their small town, Whistle Stop USA. Inspired by the unfiltered charm of 1930s funny animal cartoons like Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat particularly the work of legendary animator Ub Iwerks my goal is to bring that golden-age energy into a modern character-driven comedy. I also draw influence from the animated gems of the ’90s and 2000s, crafting a comic that feels like a long-lost Saturday morning cartoon. Beyond Whistle Stop, my comics dive into other unique characters within the same universe. There’s Henry, a socially awkward mole who just doesn’t understand why people insist on going outside. And then there’s Dali & Floofy, a series exploring the struggles of work especially when your childhood toy suddenly comes to life and needs managing. I’m always creating new stories and refining my work so if you enjoy these classic-meets-modern cartoon vibes follow along for more. There’s plenty more mischief coming in 2024

When it comes to creating comics, I always start with the characters. At the heart of every strip are personalities I’ve developed over time blending classic archetypes with exaggerated bits of my personality and traits inspired by people I’ve met. Once I have a strong sense of who these characters are, I throw them into situations that spark conflict and, most importantly, humor. Most of my ideas begin as brainstorming sessions and conversations between characters in my head. Some are influenced by personal experiences while others stem from random stories, news, or observations that catch my attention. My sense of humor leans into sarcasm irony hypocrisy and satire all of which shape the tone of my work.

Once I land on an idea I find funny, I refine it into a concise 4-to-6-panel format ensuring the humor lands effectively. I usually go through two or three script drafts before I’m ready to bring the comic to life. It’s a process driven by character spontaneity and a love for classic storytelling. And with each new strip, I aim to capture that same energy that makes comics and cartoons so timeless.

While my comics are heavily inspired by classic animation and comics, they’re not meant to be direct recreations of the past. Instead, I aim to reinterpret those vintage funny animal worlds through a modern lens blending nostalgic aesthetics with contemporary storytelling humor and themes. I often ask myself: What would a world of inkblot-style cartoon animals look like today? Visually, it would retain the charm of early animation but with subtle updates. In terms of tone, I imagine it would be more cynical, less magical, and packed with irony reflecting the world we live in now rather than the innocent whimsy of the 1930s. Of course, I’m not the first to explore this idea, but my goal is to bring my distinct voice and perspective to it. By merging classic cartoon influences with modern sensibilities and my personal experiences, I hope to create something fresh engaging, and uniquely mine.

Looking ahead, I plan to continue building on the series and characters I’ve already created. There are so many ideas and concepts I haven’t explored yet and as long as I have the passion and time I see these stories continuing for years to come. One of my biggest goals is to incorporate more long-form storytelling. While I’ve experimented with it in the past, I’d love to dive deeper into my characters giving them arcs development, and moments of introspection without ever losing the humor that defines my work. By adding layers to these characters, I hope to create stories that are not only funny but also relatable and meaningful. Beyond my current projects, I’ve thought about exploring other genres someday. Horror and thriller are two of my favorite genres outside of comedy and I’d love to take on a project that steps away from cartoon animals and leans into something darker. But for now, I’m fully invested in the world I’ve built and I’m excited to see where these characters take me next.
