We spoke with Dudolf to learn more about his creative process and what a typical day looks like when he’s working on a new illustration or comic. The most important part of the creative process is coming up with the idea. Sometimes it strikes in an instant during the most unexpected moments, or it can take hours to find the right one he shared. Once I have the idea, I sit down at my table sketch it out in pencil, and then move on to the digital art creation. I’ve switched to digital drawing recently because it makes editing so much easier. While I work, I enjoy listening to podcasts or music to help with the flow.

Every artist faces their own set of challenges along the way, and Dudolf is no exception. When asked about a particularly challenging moment in his artistic journey he shared Challenging moments happen all the time. As a self-taught illustrator there are many instances when I’m unsure about how to approach an idea or a specific image. The best way I deal with these struggles is by studying other artists’ work. I spend a lot of time watching process videos and analyzing art. There’s so much to learn from this.
