After coming out as a teenager, I discovered an inspiring community of queer trans and gender non-conforming individuals. Almost immediately, I began creating comics based on the events and jokes within my friend group just as I had always done throughout my life Sophie shared about her journey as an artist.

The artist explains that she never had to imagine a broad audience because her comics were always intended for the people around her. When I started this project in 2014, which eventually became my full-time job, I was still a student. My main goal was simply to entertain my queer and trans friends at school she shared.

Sophie shared that over the years, she’s noticed how many cisgender people tend to overcomplicate trans-related issues. Embracing and celebrating diversity and authenticity doesn’t require an in-depth understanding of gender or a degree in endocrinology, she explained.
