Jim Benton (born October 31, 1960) is an award-winning cartoonist and author behind iconic characters such as “It’s Happy Bunny,” “Dear Dumb Diary,” “Franny K. Stein,” and “Catwad”. His work spans greeting cards, books, TV adaptations, and licensing, building a legacy of playful irreverence and stand‑out wit.
Raised in Birmingham, Michigan, Jim studied fine arts at Western Michigan University. He began designing T-shirts and soon launched his comic strips. His cheeky “It’s Happy Bunny” franchise became a licensing sensation, earning multiple awards and making him one of America’s most visible cartoonists.
