We reached out to Simon again to dive deeper into his humorous comic series, where fruit characters tackle everyday challenges like procrastination and awkward social situations. When asked if there’s a particular scenario that resonates with him Simon shared that I think many of the work-related situations in my comics will be familiar to most of us. I always depict everything absurdly but there’s definitely a bit of truth in every comic. My favorite situation is when Apple’s boss tries to reach him by phone or email but Apple doesn’t want to respond. It’s something I often experience at work.

When asked if humor is a good way to address common struggles like relationship misunderstandings or the frustrations of adulting, Simon explained that he tends to approach life with a lighthearted attitude. I would generally describe myself as a very relaxed person probably often too relaxed he said. I naturally take a lot of things with humor because I believe laughing or smiling is always the best way to lighten a potentially annoying situation. I also try to think like a child, which is challenging as an adult but children can laugh with each other again so quickly after an argument. In that sense, they’re wonderful role models for us adults.

In FruitBombComics, the apple and other fruit characters often find themselves struggling with the challenges of going to work or facing daily responsibilities. We asked Simon if he could relate to these struggles in his own life. He shared, Of course, I often wish I could be a kid again where my biggest worry was deciding which video game to play next. To be honest, I use almost every free minute to draw my comics and animations, often right before or after work. I have to structure and plan the part of the day after work but that’s okay for me. He continued Even though I’m very tired sometimes, I love turning the ideas in my mind into comics. What also motivates me is the positive reactions from the people who read my work. Making people smile or even laugh with my silly drawings and animations makes me happy.
