Creativity comes in all forms, and comic artists are no exception. One rising talent Cooperlitcomics has been making waves on Instagram amassing over 29K followers with his unique blend of humor unexpected twists, and imaginative storytelling. His comics cover everything from funny everyday situations to talking snakes and even pop culture icons like Hulk and Batman. Curious about his journey we reached out to Cooperlitcomics to learn more about how he got started. I’ve loved comics since I was a kid. I always wanted to create them, but I put it off for too long he shared. More recently, I wrote a play that I wanted to adapt into a graphic novel but before tackling something so ambitious, I decided to start with shorter works. That was three years ago and the response has been so positive that I’ve kept going. What started as preparation has now become my main pursuit. But I’m still planning to do those graphic novels. A squirrel that’s too old to chew its food or a chick that doesn’t fully break out of her egg. I’ll think what kind of person or animal would be like that? How would others around them react? Sometimes, a single comic can inspire something much bigger. This artist once created a comic about two people trying to hide physical traits they felt insecure about. But what happened next was unexpected and deeply meaningful. In the caption, I invited readers to share something about their appearance they didn’t like the artist explained. For each response, I tried to argue why that trait was a good thing. That interaction got me thinking what if there was a character who did that for a living? That idea led to The Shape of Us. By turning insecurities into strengths the comic deeply resonated with readers.

For many artists, creativity has been a lifelong passion. When asked if he has always worked in the art field, this comic creator had a simple answer. Yes. I’ve loved drawing since someone put a crayon in my hand. I got interested in writing as a teenager. Now, his comics reach a huge audience on social media, and we were curious how it feel to have his work connect with so many people. It’s very gratifying. I’m really lucky to have mostly positive people and very little nastiness he shared. It’s so cool to make something in my little part of the world and hear back from people in faraway places. While he believes creators should first write to please themselves he also values audience reactions. Seeing how people respond helps me know if I’ve gotten across what I intended or missed the mark. I don’t need everyone to get a piece but I want some people to.
