Nick Cabana’s creative journey has led him to find his niche in the world of comics where he brings humor and a touch of realism to his work. When asked to describe his comics in three words he describes them as conversational realistic and silly. Nick shared that his path toward comics wasn’t linear as he explored different artistic forms before finding his true calling. I knew I wanted to do something artistic to express myself and my views on the world. I tried illustration but wasn’t satisfied moved towards serious animation but still felt like it wasn’t what I wanted. I knew I was circling something important he explained. It wasn’t until he created a comedic animated video that he realized he had found the creative outlet he had been searching for. Comedy was always very important to me but for some reason, I never thought I would be able to incorporate it into art in a meaningful way he added. His breakthrough led to the creation of MANIA where his blend of humor and real-life observations continue to connect with fans.

Nick Cabana draws much of his creative inspiration from the everyday moments that fill his life. He explained that many of his video ideas stem from the humorous interactions he shares with his roommates. Almost all of my video ideas come from bits my roommates and I do around the apartment. We spend a lot of time making each other laugh, and when something is very funny to us, I try to capture that feeling in a video. For Nick, creating content that mirrors real-life moments adds a personal touch allowing him to connect with his audience while staying true to his own experiences. It feels fulfilling to me to capture elements of my real life in my content he added.

Nick Cabana is always on the lookout for new sources of inspiration, and when it comes to other artists he’s quick to share his admiration. There are tons of creators I find to be brilliant he says. Recently he’s been particularly impressed by the storytelling of Joe Bennett. Lately, I have been endlessly impressed by the storytelling of Joe Bennett with his two shows Scavengers Reign and Common Side Effects. He captures small human details in a way I’ve never seen. This shows Nick’s appreciation for artists who dive into the subtleties of human experience something he also strives to capture in his work.
