Avi shared the turning point that motivated him to go from being a fan of webcomics to creating his own. The turning point came when I realized I had so many funny ideas in my head that I wanted to bring to life. So, I grabbed a pen a cup of hot milk, and an overwhelming sense of overconfidence. I started doodling my jokes. I’m still working on developing a unique style mixing wordplay and quirky scenarios. I turned my love for webcomics into an excuse to make myself laugh Avi explained.

Avi has been passionate about drawing and painting since childhood and he shared how his early experiences with sketching helped shape his current style in comic strips. My early drawings were pretty much trial-and-error using pencils black markers, and a lot of scribbles. Those experiments with different materials taught me to embrace the messy spontaneous side of art, which shows up in my comics today. My current style is just a polished version of my early sketches. Now, with digital art, I enjoy using halftone patterns, which I used to love seeing in the newspaper strips I read as a kid Avi explained.

Finally, we asked Avi to share his creative process for coming up with new ideas and how he ensures that each comic strip stays imaginative and funny. My creative process is a blend of chocolate random thoughts and asking myself What’s the silliest way this could go? I usually begin with a pun or an absurd situation, then twist it until it makes me laugh out loud. If it makes me laugh I know it’s worth drawing. I never let logic get in the way of a good punchline Avi shared.
