Mike Lewis recently shared with us what’s changed in his The Bear Trap comics since the last update. He explained I’ve developed a stronger drive to improve not only my art style but also my writing character development and overall presentation. I aim to give readers interesting topics, fun characters, relatable situations, and vibrant visuals keeping them thinking, laughing, and entertained.

We asked Mike how his art style has evolved and here’s what he had to say. My art is always changing, but I didn’t notice the differences until I compared older pieces to newer ones. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when or where the changes happened. Over time, my characters have gained more life and movement, I’ve spent more time on backgrounds, and so on. One noticeable improvement recently is my coloring technique. I’ve been experimenting with different colors and breaking a few rules, especially when a character is expressing emotion. It’s fun, and I hope it gives readers something new to look forward to in each comic.

Mike opened up about the responses he receives from readers saying any kind of engagement always makes me feel good and I value all feedback whether it’s positive or negative. Just knowing that my comics evoke some kind of feeling is rewarding. Even if my comics aren’t your thing, but you still took the time to comment, it means I’ve at least reached you. I just hope people remember that these comics are meant to highlight the funny side of life.
